I had been gone from my apartment for three weeks, visiting my mother in New York. When I got back I noticed that fungus had started to grow in my toilet. After cleaning it, I reflected on the relation between us, the humans in our clean homes, and the natural world, the world that brought forth life. The first thing I noticed is that life could never grow out of the sterile environments we insist to be necessary for human comfort. Only when things get really dirty, does life begin to grow. Out of the muck of the toilet, just like the muck of ancient Oceans. Keep things clean, or else life will visit you in your sleep, in the form of a hungry spider.
